CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
COMPANIES
Company is for intermediate to advance level students, ages 4-18 years
old. Company classes provide opportunity for performances, workshops,
travel and study with highly qualified instructors and choreographers
in all areas of dance. Prodigy has a company program that is well
rounded with an emphasis on improving technique, performance and life
skills such as; dedication, responsibility and sportsmanship. Company
teachers and staff encourage teamwork and friendship in and outside of
the class. In the past Prodigy Company members have received dance
scholarships to prestigious colleges, won various awards in and out of
state, have been hired as directors, teachers and choreographers and
some who have decided to do other wonderful and great things. We are
very proud of them all!
COMPANY REQUIREMENTS
*Parent permission and commitment
*Attend a placement in
March or April for the following school year.
*Appropriate dance attire is mandatory. Please visit the Policy section of this website.
*Participate in all scheduled events. Optional events are highly encouraged.
*Good Attendance - you cannot miss 1 class more than 3x's a
semester. We want you to be involved in other
activities--however, when you commit to a Company class and cannot be
present on a consistent basis, it is not fair to the other dancers.
Please do not let other activities interfere with dance classes
and rehearsals.
*Summer classes are required. Dancers who take breaks in their training
lose out on talent improvement and class advancement opportunity. Each
Company is required to take a 1 hour technique class and a 1 hour
choreography class in which Prodigy will host a professional guest

PRODIGY PRESCHOOL PROGRAM
We love our Preschool dancers! We strongly feel that it is very
important for our young dancers to love dance first! Classes are a
combination of warm-ups, technique, choreography and dance time,
focusing on large motor skills, rhythmic patterns, improvisation,
pre-ballet technique, musicality, creativity and personal expression.
All Preschool teachers train together once a year to develop a syllabus
that encourages personal growth that will allow students to progress
while having lots of fun! Prodigy Preschool teachers and staff are
qualified to meet the needs of each young dancer. They realize how
important it is to celebrate each young dancer’s unique
personality and foster their imagination. Prodigy Preschooler’s
have their very own performance and event schedule. We want our young
dancers to feel just as important as our more advanced dancers. They
are as follows:
*Choreographers Review - December
*End of the year Preschool Performance—May

PRODIGY STUDIO JAZZ PROGRAM
Jazz
Prodigy offers jazz to ages 6-18 years old on beginner, intermediate
and advanced levels. We know and understand that there are
dancer’s who wish to have a non-company and rewarding experience.
Technique and choreography is taught in a positive manner and enjoyable
environment. Jazz is fun, it teaches the dancer to turn, leap, jump and
shimmy in a modest and positive environment. Teachers develop a
syllabus for technique, choreography and creativity at the beginning of
each new dance year and directors are consistently evaluating students
for progression.
Lyrical
Prodigy offers lyrical classes for ages 10-18 years old on intermediate
to advanced levels. Lyrical is basically a slow jazz, emphasizing
ballet technique.
PRODIGY TAP PROGRAM
Prodigy offers tap classes for preschool through 18 years of age, on
beginner to advanced levels. In the tap class a special shoe is worn
that has a piece of metal attached to the tow and heal of the shoe.
Rhythmic sounds are made by striking the shoe against the floor. Tap
can be very exciting due to fast pace choreography or precise and
intricate movement of the foot. All tap disciplines are taught at
Prodigy.
PRODIGY HIP HOP PROGRAM
Hip Hop is much like jazz, using a form of street style technique and
fast music. At Prodigy the hip hop classes are fun, and jam packed with
clean and high energy movement. Hip Hop is taught at beginner to
advanced levels—starting at the age of 7 years. Come check
it out, but be prepared to sweat, get your heart rate up and have a
great time!
